MRA Unveils Two New Food, Beverage and Retail Locations
Mobile, Alabama: Two new food, beverage and retail locations are now open for business at Mobile Regional Airport. The facilities include a Hudson News Newsstand and a combined Quiznos Sub Shop, Hudson News, and Chart Room Bar. The Hudson News, located after the security checkpoint, is 15% larger than the previous store and contains beverages, Mobile themed products, newspapers, magazines and toiletries. The second, 1,867 sq. ft., Quiznos Sub Shop/Hudson News/Chart Room Bar is adjacent to the security checkpoint on the second floor mezzanine. The third store, consisting of Carpe Diem Coffee and Tea/Hudson News/Cruise City Bar and Grill, will open in early 2007.
The three units comprise five concepts:
1. Hudson News: candy, gum, mints, snacks, bottled beverages, film, camera, batteries, health and beauty products, medicine, travel accessories, travel electronics, digital wireless phone accessories, stationary, sundries and Mobile themed products
2. Quiznos Sub Shop: sandwiches, light subs, salads, soups, breakfast items, desserts, fountain beverages

5. Cruise City Bar & Grill: full service bar, full breakfast, hot grill menu, cold sandwiches, snacks, beverages
Hudson Group designed all stores with a Mobile theme. Pictures of Mobile landmarks and names such as Chart Room Bar and Cruise City Bar and Grill highlight Mobile’s maritime history and Mobile’s connection to the cruise industry. “We feel the store and product mix we offer provides passengers with a real sense of place. The design concept offers out of town passengers a taste of what Mobile is about, before even leaving the airport commented, Hudson’s Tom Kornacki, Senior Vice President Food and Beverage.”
Hudson will follow the Airport’s street pricing guidelines. According to Hudson’s Mary Foley, Vice President Food and Beverage, “all items will be priced comparable to local stores. We want our customers to feel comfortable buying a variety of items knowing they are not overpriced.”
Construction officially began last July. Hudson Group built temporary stores to serve customers during construction. Hudson News opened September 11, 2006. The combined Quiznos Sub Shop/Hudson News/Chart Room Bar opened October 23, 2006. Hudson will commence construction in November on the third and final unit - a Hudson News/Carpe Diem Coffee and Tea/Cruise City Bar and Grill, which will open January 2007.
All stores will remain open from 30 minutes before the first flight until 30 minutes after the last flight. According to Mobile Airport Authority Marketing Director, Marc Pelham, “Hudson’s commitment to quality and superior customer service distinguishes them from other retailers. When passengers are in the airport, stores will be open.”
